The U.S. has provided an incentive for immigrants to not be afraid of calling the police to report crime. The incentive is that if you or your family members have been a victim of a certain crime and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible to receive a U visa. The U visa will give you and immediate family members (unmarried children under 21 or spouse) U visa status for four years, and you can apply for your permanent residency (green card) after three years of having U visa status.

Si un ciudadano de los EE.UU. quiere casarse con alguien que vive fuera de los EE.UU., pero quiere casarse dentro de los EE.UU., Visa de prometido(a) (visa K Visa , Formulario I- 129F ) es una opción válida. La visa de prometido(a) permite que el ciudadano de los EE.UU.  peticione por su prometido(a), permitiendo que el prometido(a) entrar en los EE.UU. Una vez que el prometido(a) entra, el peticionario y el prometido(a) tienen 90 días para casarse.

Para solicitar un prometido(a) ciudadano EE.UU. envía el formulario I- 129F, junto con las pruebas necesarias, a USCIS.

What is a Fiancé(e) Visa and How Does it Work?

If a U.S. citizen wants to marry someone who lives outside the U.S., but wants to be married inside the U.S., a fiancé(e) visa (K Visa, Form I-129F) is a valid option. The fiancé(e) visa allows the U.S. citizen to petition for their fiancé(e), allowing the fiancé(e) to enter the U.S. Once the fiancé(e) enters, the petitioner and fiancé(e) have 90 days to marry. If you are already married, you can file a Fiancé(e) Visa at the same time as Form I-130 (click here to see prior blog post), which may allow your spouse to come to the U.S. sooner.

To petition for a foreign fiancé(e) the U.S. citizen sends Form I-129F, along with necessary proofs, to USCIS.
