Obama Immigration Plan: How do I Prepare?

Obama's executive order will offer papers and work authorization to undocumented parents of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (affecting up to 4 million people), as long as they have lived in the U.S. for five years or longer.
There is no official form to apply yet, but you can prepare by:
- Putting together proofs that you have lived in the U.S. since 2009 (one per month) such as:
- Bills
- Medical/dental records
- Pay taxes from 2009-2013 (and plan to pay for 2014)
- Make sure you pay taxes using a ITIN and not a false social security number
- Do not claim any dependents that are not your U.S. citizen children
- Birth certificates of your U.S. citizen children born on or before November 20, 2014, OR
- Legal Permanent Resident card (LPR) front and back and copy of birth certificate with English translation showing you are the parent.
Also for the DREAMERs (DACA), the program requirements remain the same, but now you qualify:
- If you entered the U.S. by January 1, 2010 and before turning 16;
- At any age (it doesn't matter when you were born; Obama's order removes the upper age limit of 30 years old)
Another change to the DACA program is an extension of the previous two-year guarantee of relief to three years.
